Right from the day of its inception, the National Centre for School Leadership at NIEPA has committed itself to building leadership capacities of School Heads, making them believe “these are my strengths”, “this is my school” and “this is what should be done to change and transform my school”. Today we have reached a stage when we can proudly announce that the programme of School Leadership Development conceptualized by NCSL, NIEPA is implemented across the length and breadth of this country. In this endeavour, the collaborative efforts of our State/UT governments are highly applauded. The enthusiasm towards the programme shown by our State Resource Group members and School heads who are closely associated with our School Leadership Development Programmes is unmatched.

Among the several programmes on School Leadership Development launched by the Centre, the Online Programme on School Leadership and Management is one of a kind. This Programme is based on a Curriculum Framework on School Leadership Development conceptualized at national level but grounded in real school practices, dealing with more contextual leadership issues. It primarily follows a “practitioner centric” approach bringing to the centre stage the leadership role of School Head as a prime mover for transformation and improvement. Therefore it is specifically intended for Heads and Principals of elementary, secondary and senior secondary schools. The programme offers a wide range of reform initiatives right from developing self to initiating and sustaining school-based changes and innovations.

NCSL took up the challenge of entering into the incredible world of Online Programme using Moodle platform at the behest of MHRD. We are grateful to MHRD for instilling a spirit of confidence in us “yes we can do it”. Each member of NCSL has since then worked tirelessly in designing, generating, collecting, consolidating the e-content, reference reading material and practice exercises, assessments and assignments, audio-video links etc as part of this programme. I congratulate the team of NCSL, NIEPA and technical experts of our University who under the guidance of our Vice-Chancellor, Prof N.V.Varghese have made this programme into a dream come true.

NCSL, NIEPA looks forward to the cooperation from State Governments/UTs and State Resource Groups for helping School Heads to reach the last mile. I wish each school head in this country derives maximum benefit from this well thought out programme and becomes a catalyst for school change and development.

Let's join our hands together in this journey of school transformation to ensure “every child learns and every school excels”.
